McSharry Wins Euro Under 23 Teams

And the titles just keep rolling in for Lee McSharry.

Lee has various Irish trophies in the bag and now he is starting to regularly add the internationals ones. Having won the World Junior Team Event in 2017, Lee moved up to the Under 23 age bracket and in 2019 won the World Under 23 Team title alongside fellow Leitrim player Jamie Gaffney.

In February he travelled to Malta with his team mates looking to add the European title to their World one knowing that each country they face will be determined to take down the current World Champions. The group stages were sluggish for this talented trio and they needed Malta to do them a favour and beat England in the last game in order for them to make the semi final.

On making the semi final they continued to struggle to find their best form and upon staring elimination in the face at 4-1 down in a race to 5, they decide enough was enough. They won the last 4 frames to make the final and never looked back. They won the final easily and this Irish Under 23 team are now the current World and European Champions.

Well done lads.

Leitrim were also represented by Kevin McWeeney and Colin Crossan in the Mens A category, Jamie Gaffney in the Mens B category, Neil Brady in the Mens C Category and John Barry and Maurice Sheehan in the Over 50’s. Congrats to all on representing your country.
