Donnelly claims the Shane Barry

Last Sunday seen the first competition of the 2019/2020 pool year, the Shane Barry memorial competition. This took place in Carthy’s bar leitrim Village over 2 tables and 20 entrants. There were 2 pre lim matches before the round of 16, Kevin mcWeeney beat Mick Casey 4-0, while John mcKenna beat Peter Devanney 4-1. In the last 16 Kevin McWeeney beat Niall Sweeney 4-2, Gavin Dennelly beat Dave McWeeney 4-1, Maurice Cullen beat Dave Carthy 4-2 and Dave Flynn beat Dave Moolick 4-0.

Jeremiah Coulter

In the other side of the draw, Jeremiah Coulter rolled back the years playing great pool to beat Jamie Gaffney 4-3, young Adam Casey beat his father John 4-2, Brendan Shivnan beat Stephen mcTague 4-3 from 3-1 down and John mcKenna beat David Coulter 4-1. In the last 8 Maurice Cullen beat Kevin McWeeney 4-2, Jeremiah Coulter beat Dave Flynn 4-0 while Gavin Donnelly beat John McKenna 4-1 and Brendan Shivnan eat Adam Casey. Donnelly was too strong for Shivnan in the semi final going 4-0 up and eventually beating him 5-1, while in the other Jeremiah took an early lead but Maurice fought back to 4-3 when Jeremiah clinched the match 5-3. In the final Donnelly started strong and was punishing Jeremiah’s mistakes and eventually beat Jeremiah 5-0.
